Very much a personal blog this time. My little boy goes to a daily nursery close to our apartment. It is a “joint language” school in which, although the main language is Mandarin, some English is taught and some of the staff speak English.
As the only English parent at the school my wife volunteered me to come and tell my son’s class a story in English. Ages were between 2 and 3 so, with the help of some stuff printed off the internet, I did the 3 Little Pigs to my youthful audience.
It seemed to go down quite well and the Big Bad wolf had plenty of help when it came to “huffing” and “puffing” the house down!
Each one came up to shake my hand afterwards and speak a little English. After that followed some typical English food we had brought along, sausages, tuna sandwiches and a bit of chocolate from an Easter Egg. Of course, in the UK you would not be allowed to bring food in but nobody got ill, and everyone ate their share.
I was a little unsure about how it would all go before the event but once again, as so often happens in China, there was a great deal of goodwill about and everyone had a good time.
