Glans Blog - January/February 2010

Part of my business in China is connected with the Healthcare industry. As well as supplying a major UK customer we are producing under licence for the Chinese market. This increases volume for my business and should result in a cheaper product for the UK customer as well as additional income via the licence. Thats the way I like it, win-win!

/live/blog/DSC00885-1.JPGAs part of the Chinese promotion we gave away a good quantity of our products to 10 local nursing homes in Jiaxing City, where our factory is. The picture shows the ceremony at a local nursing home. The Chinese do not do things by halves – the ceremony included a Chinese dancing troupe, red carpet, speeches from important local officials, and even television and newspaper coverage. My UK customer’s MD came out to China for other reasons but attended the ceremony (and had to make an impromptu speech) and, in his first full day in China, got on Chinese television.

I wasn’t expecting all that either but, in China, you go with the flow and I can say everyone had a real fun time.
